Turn your piece of Granite/Quartz over so its polished face is face down and you are looking at the polished cut out. Position your sink over the cut out and adjust its position until the even or desired overhang is correct all the way round the sink.
With a marker pen, draw around the flange of the sink.
With the sink still in place, refer to the sink manufacturers guidelines to establish the pressure points. Position the amount of fixings you will require for the particular sink you are about to install.
Place the hockey stick seat in the correct position on the flange. With a marker pen draw a line on the granite along the back edge of the seat. Repeat this exercise for all the Clip positions.
Remove the sink and put it to one side, From the pen marks you have just made you need to measure a further 15mm away from the cut out and make another line. This will be the point where you use your angle grinder to make the groove for the clip. We will refer to this as the groove line.
The groove line will need to be extended to a set length depending on the diameter of blade. For 115mm to 125mm diamond blades the line needs to be 80mm in length which will create an approx cut depth of 13mm to 15mm. Repeat this for each of the fixing positions.
The grinder blade should be between 115mm to 125mm in diameter and have a thickness of 2.5mm to 3mm maximum. Drop the grinder in at 90 degrees until the blade touches each end of your 80mm groove line. Repeat this exercise for all of the fixing positions.
Apply a small bead of silicone around the sink flange between the granite and the sink and then re position the sink onto the granite were previously marked with the marker pen. This creates the water-tight barrier seal between the sink and the granite.
Place the hockey stick seats onto the flange and then secure in place by pressing the G-Clip into the groove with your finger. This finger tight pressure will be enough to hold the sink in place for the short time while a final positioning check is completed.
Turn over the granite and check that all overhangs and sink position is as you require. If required, minor adjustments can be made by tapping the sink gently in the appropriate direction.
Once satisfied that the sink position is correct, the clip can be secured into its locking position using a small hammer and tapping it downward further into the groove line.
Clean off any excess silicone that may have squeezed out into the inside of the bowl. That is the installation completed.
Why use G-CLIP?
Do you need any specialist tooling to install the G-Clip?
How long does it take to install the sink using the G-Clip?
It should take no more than 15 minutes.
Do we still have to use silicone?
Do we need a joiner to build a sub-frame to support the sink?
Not any more. The G-Clip eliminates the need for sub-framing.
I am fitting a waste disposal unit to my sink. Can I still use the G-Clip fastening system?
What pressure/weight will the G-Clip withstand?
We have tested a sink with the G-Clip correctly installed up to 100kg.
